Autism and Mulitsensory Impairment
In 2010 I moved to Sydney, Australia to study Transpersonal Art Therapy. I gained a diploma in this and went on to complete a placement at St Vincents Hospital, within their mental health unit for adults.
After returning to the UK in 2012 I was afforded the opportunity of working with newborns and toddlers in a private nursery in London, volunteered with the charity project "Kids Company" to deliver Art therapy sessions. Through this role I was classroom assisting in the primary sector too.
After being asked to assist in classes in a school specialising in teaching autistic children, I discovered a passion for working with children with Special needs.
For two years I gained valuable experience and was able to incorporate my knowledge of Transpersonal psychology in daily classroom life.
Special Needs....Adults and children
Having continually studied and practiced yoga, in 2015 I decided to combine my two passions and trained under Jyoti Jo Manual in the specialist field of "Yoga and Mindfulness for Autism and ADHD ". I was soon asked to become part of the team at the Special Yoga Centre. From there I delivered regular classes and training sessions around the UK, under the mentor-ship of the organisation's founder.
Thanks to my work in a London school for the visually impaired, I have co-created a one day yoga training course for children with hearing and vision impairment. Helping these children has become yet another passion and source of regular inspiration.
I have the privilege in sharing Special yoga within schools/colleges and residential homes. In the mainstream sector, SEN schools and inclusion units across London.
